A happy gift from the people at Premier Nutrition

Dec 31

I got a nice little gift in the mail a couple of days back. The kind people at Premier Nutrition sent me a package with a selection of Titan cookies, some premiere protein vanilla drinks and a cute little stainless travel mug.

My hookup

Isn’t that nice of them?
I love free stuff!

I must admit I’m not a big fan of protein bars but I do eat them when I’m traveling. I find them chalky and a bit medicine like for my taste. I haven’t really found one I like- so, I stick with the protein drinks and to be honest with you I drink the Premier Protein Chocolate. I buy a case of them at Costco about once a month. I drink it on the way to work and I’m 30g into my protein count for the day. Not bad for 6:00am.

Anyways….I’m getting distracted…..I tried one of the Titan Protein cookies (the peanut butter one) and it was…..it was……downright delightful. Yup, I’m telling you people it was downright good! So if you are in the store give it a try. At 10g of protein and 150 calories it’s not exactly a “lean” choice however I see them as a treat with a bonus. The come in packages of two so hold yourself back from eating both of them as a 300 calorie snack might just bite you on your ass.

Below I pasted some of the nutritional information I found off Premier Nutrition’s website

My delusion that one day I will be Martha Stewart: Meal Planning

My delusion that one day I will be Martha Stewart: Meal Planning

Nov 25

Ok you got me. I’m a mess when it comes to things like meal planning.
I realize that meal planning is one of many keys to success with weight loss.

I can’t seem to sit down and actually write out a list of the things I want to eat for the week before I get in my car and go to the store.
Seems simple right? Well for me it’s near impossible to make that extra step….so I’m working on it

I saw this idea on pinterest

Instantly I was glamorized into thinking that I too could join the world of the hyper-organized.
Everything matched, how very Martha! Everything seems to be perfect. It’s SO within my grasp!
I could see myself swaying over with my pearls and heels and delighting in the glory of planning out a week…or (GASP) even a whole month of healthy choices for my family.

Wanting this little dream to be realized I ordered some magnetic sheets off Amazon here

I downloaded the forms online here I must note that I hated that you can’t alter the font but that’s the snob in me

Here are my pages if you would like to steal them

Printed it all out and stuck it all together and cut all the little bits and pieces out

Then I cleaned off this thing which was a catch-all thing in our laundry room serving no purpose what so ever. I bought it at IKEA years ago and I’ve been lugging it around ever since.

Anyways, it’s up- clean and ready for me to use…..well that was a month ago. So far I haven’t used it once. Lots of effort for no result.
I’m no Martha. But that’s ok- I don’t think she is either.

So…..what do you guys do to organize and plan your meals?

What? Come on lady why don't you just say something?

So as I said before on a previous post my psychologist (really if you go to ONE visit with a shrink can you say he’s “my psychologist?) anyways he asked me what all I wanted to accomplish out of this lifetime and for me to come up with a list.

You could call it a bucket list if you wanted but for me…I shall just call it a list.

In the process of coming up with this list I found out (and this is going to sound stupid) that many of my “passions” in life weren’t as bubbling over in my current life. Dare I say I’ve become vanilla with the monotony of everyday? Why hadn’t I been perusing some of my dreams at any weight/level of health? Why had I stopped seeking out the frosting of life? Oh that’s right. Because I was on the couch eating it with a spoon. Ok got it.

Not seriously. Life has changed me (this mind you isn’t a surprise). I used to be a free-wheeling college student without a care in the world- making art and just doing whatever came to mind. Then met my future husband and everything began to slow down. I stopped doing art in my apartment because he felt it was messy. I graduated and started working which ate a huge chunk of my time now fast forward and I’m teaching at a wonderful school but I live 45 minutes each way plus I have a young son. It seems I cook, clean up after him and then hit the sack only to repeat the process again. Waaaa what a poor little bitchy baby I’ve become. What a fucking adult I sound like.

So, I’ve started putting together a bit of a book. Per my style nothing is complete and everything is a bit of a mess. I’m not the best watercolorist in fact I don’t like my watercolor work at all but hell….whatever right? So above is the first page embrace artistic vision. I teach art. I’m surrounded by it each and everyday but I rarely make time to do it for myself. So that’s something that needs to change to allow me some headroom. I need to start making art again. Making the time.

Mind you I could tear this up with my negative thoughts. I hate the font and the spacing is all wrong the pen is strange. But I won’t. I’m just going to let it be. Shut the hell up voice in my head and just make another page. Yup, it’s a whole new philosophy of the week.

Yes, as a matter of fact I did.

Frenching Strawberry Shortcake: Premier Protein Strawberry Drink Review

Frenching Strawberry Shortcake: Premier Protein Strawberry Drink Review

I was addicted to her. I kept her in my pocket and at off times I would put her up to my nose and squeeze all the strawberry-latex-tainted smell out of her. I speak, of course, to my dear strawberry shortcake. Her puffs of fruit flavor air tainted my nose for life – no one could ever live up to the level of smell sophistication that that little woman gave me so very early on. That was until I got my grubby little hands on some new-fangled strawberry protein drinks. Yumtastic indeed!

I googled "strawberry latex lovers" my eyes will never been the same

I was contacted via twitter to see if I would be willing to do a taste test of premier protein’s strawberry flavor.
Um hells yes.

For my POC (Protein of Choice- for all the “hard-core” protein users out in the world) I drink the premier protein chocolate.
I buy one big crate of it a month at Costco and drink it every morning as I drive in to work. For me, it’s the best I’ve found. So I had high hopes for this little wave of strawberry-ness.

Some drag queen is going to be upset when she finds out they used her favorite wig for packing

Yup, this is what it looks like - straight up

The taste was crisp, sweet, light yet creamy with a slight protein aftertaste. The aftertaste was not overwhelming. Packed with 30g of protein and just a trace of sugar it’s a great way to start the day out right. This drink is akin to the strawberry milk of our collective pasts straight out of the squeeze jar- without that biting sharp sweetness laced so ever-presently in all children’s breakfast items nowadays.
My only issue is with that 1g of saturated fat…what’s up with that?

I give it a go: a happy sleeve, a elated scalpel, a gastric wonder…….I’m working on the details of my rating system as you can see.

This is for the CHOCOLATE drink. I couldn't find the info about the strawberry- but they are close.

I’ve been using Twitter as a link to help me. With the help of a “Twibe” I’ve been linked up with fellow weight loss surgery people and twitter has been an easy opportunity to share and help each other out. I follow @Fooducate which is a app that I’ve been using on my phone (will post about it when I have time…end of school is this Sunday!) Fooducate just uploaded this graphic. I found it most interesting- hope you do as well.
