A happy gift from the people at Premier Nutrition

Dec 31

I got a nice little gift in the mail a couple of days back. The kind people at Premier Nutrition sent me a package with a selection of Titan cookies, some premiere protein vanilla drinks and a cute little stainless travel mug.

Isn’t that nice of them?
I love free stuff!

I must admit I’m not a big fan of protein bars but I do eat them when I’m traveling. I find them chalky and a bit medicine like for my taste. I haven’t really found one I like- so, I stick with the protein drinks and to be honest with you I drink the Premier Protein Chocolate. I buy a case of them at Costco about once a month. I drink it on the way to work and I’m 30g into my protein count for the day. Not bad for 6:00am.

Anyways….I’m getting distracted…..I tried one of the Titan Protein cookies (the peanut butter one) and it was…..it was……downright delightful. Yup, I’m telling you people it was downright good! So if you are in the store give it a try. At 10g of protein and 150 calories it’s not exactly a “lean” choice however I see them as a treat with a bonus. The come in packages of two so hold yourself back from eating both of them as a 300 calorie snack might just bite you on your ass.

Below I pasted some of the nutritional information I found off Premier Nutrition’s website

A titan of finance? No, I'm more like a cookie titan

While searching around the internet for information regarding pre-operative two week diet regimens (I have my own but I’m always down to getting more information/perspectives) I found several overviews/introductions to bariatric surgeries. I thought it would be nice to share some of my finds as I believe it will help someone else who is also looking. Click on the pict below for a full view of the program.

Check, Check AND Check

Check, Check AND Check

Well, it’s all looking good on the home front.
My paperwork has been filed with insurance as of Friday (November 19th) by the surgeons office. AI have a bot of a point of contention with my doctor for her lack of professionalism, but I will leave that for another day.
I feel they asked for very little paperwork to review considering the enormity of the surgery. To have a student sit close to the teacher in my classroom it seems we must file about 423 pieces of paper and plan three meetings to discuss the situation. Never the less the things they asked for were:

Letter of medical necessity from my doctor
Copy of all medical records from the last six months
Copy of all insurance paperwork that details meal and exercise plans

That’s it.

I’m not the best cook. But, with this surgery I’m going to flip that switch and learn how to be a better, more healthy cook for my family.
Here are some some great recipe sites you might want to check out that are catered towards bariatric cooking:

Josephine had the most unfortunate birthmark

In a few short months (ticking down the days people) I will be well on to my recovery from surgery and my attention (and dedication) will come to food. Specifically the protein content of food. Shall we dub it the golden 70. Seeing as this will soon become somewhat of an obsession I’ve started using the internet to load my arsenal of research. I thought I would share some of the ones I found with you. They are not perfect, but they are a good start. If you know of any good ones please let me know and I will add them to the list.

Pretty good chart from a bodybuilding website

Good information on a Herbalife website
Very hard to read but lots of information
